“5. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, 6. And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.” (Matthew 2: 5-6)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
When the wise men came to Herod in search of information concerning Jesus’ birth, Herod consulted the chief priests and scribes, who in turn quoted from scripture. So, the information that came to the wise men, actually came from the word. The knowledge they gained, came from scripture. They were wise no doubt, but their wisdom still lacked the information they needed, until scriptures opened. They learnt from the word.
Friend, ultimate wisdom comes from the word. Great men find direction from the word of the Lord. Great men understand that life is guided and guarded by the word of the Lord. Great men realize that the pathway for tomorrow needs a dose of the word of the Lord. Sometimes, what the word says may not be popular amongst men, but even the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of men. Great men win by the word.
Don’t wait to be stirred before you read the word. Read the word and it will stir you. Speak the word with every opportunity you have. When challenges show up, respond with the word of God. When the enemy arises, conquer him with the word of the Lord. When the challenges of life come your way, break them into pieces with the word of God. When you need wisdom, take a peep into the word and you will find wisdom.
The entrance of the word gives light, and gives understanding to the simple. The word of God is quick and powerful, sharper than any double-edged sword. So mightily grew the word of God that it prevailed. The word of God will not return to Him void, until it accomplishes that for which it was sent. God gave His commandment, his word runs swiftly upon the earth. No wisdom is higher than the words of Him that framed the world with words.
Fill your mind with the word, let the word of Christ dwell richly in you in all wisdom, and the word will come forth when you need it.
Psalm 119 vs. 105 says: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Declare With Me: I live by the word; I learn from the word, in Jesus’ name!
