GROW YOUR CAPACITY

“And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.” (1 Kings 21: 3)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
In our Focal Scripture, Naboth replied Ahab’s request to acquire his vineyard by disclosing that he got the vineyard as an inheritance from his fathers. Naboth literally rebuffed the entreaties of Ahab in one swoop. Notice that Ahab was the king of Israel, who could command an army apart from having Jezebel as wife. Naboth was replying a king without having a backing or spiritual capacity. He engaged in a fight without capacity.
Friend, grow your capacity to confront altars. Grow your capacity in the spirit through prayers and growth in the word. Feed your spirit man intensely, so that you can withstand the wiles of the enemy. Build your spiritual muscles if you truly intend to reply the Ahab’s of this world. Grow your spiritual capacity to confront the systems of hell. Grow in might in your inner man. Grow in wisdom, stature and favour with God and man.
Ahab was the king, he had the backing of his army, as well as the backing of Jezebel; he also had the temples of Baal as part of his spiritual arsenal, but he was being confronted by someone who had nothing else but mere words. The Ahab’s of this world who you intend to confront, are not quite empty handed as you may want to imagine. The Ahab’s of this world show up with Jezebels behind them. Ahab’s show up backed by satanic altars.
Elijah confronted Ahab and his entire satanic stronghold, and he went scot free, in addition to decimating the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal. Naboth confronted the same Ahab, but did not live to tell the story. Even if you admire the Elijah’s of this world when they confront and defeat the Ahab’s, also be intentional to build their kind of capacity, lest you end up like Naboth. Don’t get in a spiritual fight without capacity.
Welcome to that season where you must intentionally grow and build capacity. May you never be counted amongst them that confronted the Ahab’s of this world, but did not live to tell the tale.
Matthew 12: 29 says: “Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.”
