GATE KEEPERS

“And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.” (2 Kings 11: 6)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the priest appointed men who would take charge at the various gates prior to the enthronement of Joash as new King of Israel. Kingship was about to be unveiled, but men needed to take their place at the gates first. Gate keepers were to take their place before the kingship of Joash would become reality. Gate keepers were to take their positions, given that there could be opposition to the Kingship of Joash.

Friend, this is that season where you must become a gate keeper because of the things that are yet to emerge. Arise as a gate keeper that will keep watch and confront the enemy at the gates. Arise as a gate keeper and confront the evil forces that are poised against the new thing the Lord is set to do around you. Stand at the gates and defeat the enemies of your rising. Stand at the gates and conquer the opposers of your new.

Jehoiada identified the various gates that needed to be manned, and he positioned men of war to man those gates. The next step of enthroning the new king was not going to happen until the gates had been fully manned by men of war. Your next level may not emerge until you take charge at the gates. There are demonic usurpers waiting to make a mess of what God is about to do, and you need to take them on at the gates.

Arise as a gate keeper and cut down the opposers who are waiting to scuttle God’s plan for your life. Arise as a gate keeper and wage war against the systems of hell that want to stagnate your destiny. Arise as a gate keeper against the Athaliah’s of this world who believe you should never be king. Arise as a gate keeper and defeat Athaliah before her wicked plans come to light. Arise as a gate keeper that knows that the battle is won at the gate.

If you fail to keep men at the gates, don’t come back to cry when Athaliah arises and scuttles your kingship. Enthronement requires gate keepers. Raise gate keepers. Be a gate keeper.

Matthew 24: 43 says: “But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.”
