“1. Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2. Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.” (Matthew 2: 1-2)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
When Jesus was born, wise men came from the east to make enquiries about where they could see Him. Wise men came from the east to ask questions about the birth of Jesus. Wise men came to find out information about Jesus. They were wise men, yet they came to ask questions. They were wise, but they didn’t know it all. They were wise, but they realized that they needed to glean some information from other people.
Friend, glean some wisdom from the wise men: even wise men know that they don’t know it all. Wise men recognize the need to ask questions and gain knowledge from others. Wise men realize that they are still bereft of some information they need. Wise men realize that they are not complete, and are willing to listen to other people’s perspectives. Wise men realize that wisdom does not make them infallible.
Even the wisdom of the wise men recognized the need to learn some information they did not have, from those who had it. The wisdom of the wise recognizes the need to be teachable. The wisdom of the wise recognizes the need to submit and learn from the best. The wisdom of the wise recognizes those who know it, and is willing to learn from them. Wisdom demands that you recognize what you don’t know and seek who to learn from.
Notice that the wise men had a deficiency in information concerning the birth of Jesus, and they didn’t sit back to wallow in their ignorance. They took a step to gain the knowledge and information they needed. Wisdom demands that when you recognize your knowledge deficiency, take steps to fill it so that you can make progress to the next level. Wisdom demands that you do not settle and be comfortable in ignorance.
Welcome to that season where you must never settle in ignorance. Welcome to your season of more knowledge seeking.
Proverbs 4: 7 says: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
Declare With Me: In all my getting, I will gain wisdom and understanding, in Jesus’ name!
