EL ROI HEARS

“And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.” (Genesis 16: 11)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the Angel of the Lord told Hagar that her child shall be called ‘Ishmael’, because the Lord had heard her affliction. The Lord heard the cry of distress from Hagar. Hagar may not have been deserving of an answer in her distress, but El Roi heard her. She may have considered herself unqualified, but El Roi heard her. She may have looked down on herself, but El Roi heard her cry in the wilderness and came to her rescue.

Friend, I pray for you: in 2026, may El Roi hear your cry for help. May El Roi hear your cries of distress. May El Roi show up for you when you call on Him. May El Roi show you a token for good when you call on His name. May your prayers birth answers that will wipe your bitter tears. May your cries be followed by answers from El Roi. May El Roi grant you answers that will end your cries. May your cries enter into the ears of El Roi.

The child that was to be birthed by Hagar was to be called ‘Ishmael’, which is interpreted to mean “God hears’. Her result was to be literal evidence that God had heard her. Hear me as I hear the Lord: may you receive those answers that will show that the Lord has heard you. May God grant you uncommon results that will show that He has heard you. May El Roi give you that evidence that leave no one in doubt that He has heard you.

I pray for you: in 2026, may it be visible to even your enemies that El Roi has heard you. May your hands carry results that show that El Roi has heard you. May your habitation witness the fact that El Roi has heard you. May you have something to show that El Roi has heard you. May your testimony be that El Roi heard you with signs and wonders. May your testimony be that El Roi answered you with terrible things in righteousness.

Welcome to that season where El Roi will hear you with evidence that terminates arguments. Welcome to that season where El Roi will hear you with visible answers.

Psalm 34: 15 says: “The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.”
