DIVINE DIRECTION

“28. He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29. But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.” (Matthew 13: 28-29)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the servants of the householder proposed that they should go and root out the tares from amongst the wheat. The householder declined approval, citing the fact that they may end up rooting out the wheat as well. The servants had good intentions on how to deal with the tares, but the householder gave an insight into what might happen. They had good intentions, but divine direction came forth.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you will enjoy divine direction. In moments when your good intentions are poised to lead you into trouble, may divine direction bail you out. May divine direction save you from decisions that could swallow your tomorrow. May divine direction save you from every journey that wants to lead you into pain and bitter tears. May divine direction stop you from innocently uprooting your wheat with the tares.

The servants had the intention of uprooting the tares; the householder saw ahead of time that this could also affect the wheat, and he ordered that everything should be left untouched until the time of harvest. The householder saw ahead of time, how the uprooting of the tares would affect the wheat, and he directed them to halt. In moments when you can’t see the future from where you are, may the Lord arise and see on your behalf.

If the servants did not get direction from the householder, they would have tried to root out the tares, thereby losing also the wheat. If you fail to get divine direction, you may cause yourself major losses that would have been avoided. If you fail to gain divine direction, you will be the biggest loser when the chips are down. If you fail to receive divine direction, you may end up in traps you never imagined you would end up in.

In this season and beyond, may God grant you divine direction that will save you from future bitter tears. May God open the channels of divine direction for you.

Isaiah 30: 21 says: “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

Declare With Me: I walk in divine direction; I will not destroy my wheat with my own hands, in Jesus’ name!
