DISCERN THE MOMENT

“Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.” (Matthew 2: 2)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture speaks of how the wise men saw the star of Jesus in the east and came all the way to Jerusalem. Notice that apart from the wise men, there were shepherds watching their flocks, whom an angel of the Lord reached out to, and gave information about Jesus’ birth. The same God who caused the wise men from the east to see a star, permitted the shepherds to get information from an angel.

Friend, one major wisdom for living is that God would have you be different things to different people. You will have to be a star in some places while you only provide information in other places. Do not go to places where you should shine brightly and maximally, and begin to provide mere information; do not go to places requiring only information and begin to shine more than you need to. Know when and where your star is needed.

There are environments where God would have you be at your very best and show forth your very best; there are places where God would have you manifest the fullness of all He planted in you; there are places where your capacity must be maximally manifested; there are places and platforms that God will bring you to, and He expects you to deliver your best as though there would never be another chance; but that won’t be everywhere.

The wise men who saw the star of Jesus, were versed and learned in astrology. They understood the times. They knew what the appearance of the star meant, and they came all the way to Jerusalem. The shepherds were mostly unlearned, and would never have understood the meaning of the star. Some people do not have the capacity to deal with your star, and you will have to be content with just giving them information.

Gain mastery of who you ought to be in different places and circumstances, and discern where the different dimensions of your destiny ought to be manifest. Don’t shine where you ought to give information, and don’t give information where you ought to shine.

1 Corinthians 9: 22 says: “To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.”
