CONNECT TO GREATNESS

“1. Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2. Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.” (Matthew 2: 1-2)


That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.


When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, and their intention was to come and worship Him. These wise men heard about the birthing of a great child, and they came to worship and connect to Him. They sought to pay homage to the greatness He carried. Their posture, when they saw and heard about Jesus’ greatness, was that of honour and a desire to connect to greatness.


Friend, wise men honour greatness when they see it. Wise men recognize and seek to connect to greatness when they see it. Wise men realize that greatness must be honoured. Wise men realize that greatness deserves accolades. Wise men realize that there are times when one must journey to the place where greatness has been birthed. Wise men realize that greatness must be seen, valued and respected.


There is a generation that loves to castigate greatness. There is a foolish generation that sits back to spite another man’s greatness, which they have neither attained nor may ever attain. There is a generation that delights in disrespecting, dishonoring and even disgracing greatness. Learn from the wise men: they saw greatness and came to honour the great; they saw greatness and gravitated towards it. They honoured greatness.


These wise men were not about to hear about greatness from the east and remain in the east. They came all the way to Jerusalem to see the Great One. When you see greatness, go closer to it, connect to it, learn from it, value it, honour it, and serve it. Did you know that these wise men heard about a great child that had been birthed, and they came to honour him? Never allow age to hinder you from honouring the great.


Be intentional to honour and connect to greatness. Never allow yourself to see greatness and not come close to honour it.


Proverbs 13: 20 says: “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”
