“And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.” (Luke 8: 53)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
When Jesus told the people in the home of Jairus that the maiden was not dead but merely asleep, they laughed him to scorn. Jesus proclaimed what would later become the reality, but they did not only fail to believe Him, they also laughed at what He said. Jesus spoke in the language of faith, it sounded too good to be true, and they laughed at Him. Jesus spoke in the language of possibilities, and those who saw impossibilities laughed.
Friend, until you speak and people begin to laugh at your faith, you just might still be speaking their language. Until you speak and people think you are believing too much, you just may not be believing enough. Until you speak and people think you are mad with your speaking, you just might still be speaking on their level. Faith that has not yet amused and confused people around you may not yet be faith enough.
The language of faith is foolishness to them that perish. The language of faith is strange to those who are strangers to the matter of faith. If you are truly working by faith, then your walk should surprise and possibly confuse those who are not of the same level of faith as you. If you are truly amongst them that believe God for anything, then you just might seem and sound strange to those who do not believe God to the extent you do.
When faith speaks, doubt laughs. When faith speaks, doubt is not impressed. When faith speaks, doubt thinks that faith is high on something. When faith speaks, unbelief begs to take a leave. When faith speaks, unbelief thinks faith is mad. When faith speaks, unbelief thinks it is too much to believe. When faith speaks, unbelief thinks it is wishful thinking. When faith speaks, those who speak impossibility cannot discern the possibility.
Jesus spoke, they laughed, but His word came to pass. It doesn’t matter how many people that laugh at your faith; in just a matter of time, your faith will birth your realities.
2 Corinthians 5: 7 says: “For we walk by faith, not by sight:”
Declare With Me: I choose faith over doubt; my faith will birth my realities, in Jesus’ name!
