“And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.”(Mark 10: 50)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When blind Bartimaeus was told that Jesus had called for him, he took away his garment, and he rose. Blindness had confined him to a life of begging, and when it was time for change to happen, he rose from the position where he sat and begged. Begging had kept him down, but when his new season beckoned, he rose. Bartimaeus’ status was about to change, and he changed the posture that his circumstance gave him.

Friend, rise from every challenge that has kept you down. Rise from your failures. Rise from your mistakes. Rise from your misfortunes. Rise from every setback that came your way in time past. Rise from every pain and bitterness in your heart. Rise from the ashes of past defeat. Rise from every negative experience that has ever come your way. Rise from every limitation the enemy put on you. Rise from every confinement.

Bartimaeus blindness meant that he sat and begged, but the moment Jesus called him, he rose from the posture of his begging. Rise from every posture that your circumstances have given you. Rise from every posture that facilitates and sustains negativity in your life. Rise from the negative dispositions and attitudes your battles gave you. Rise from the posture of past struggles. Rise from the posture of your past pain.

Bartimaeus was on the brink of a new season, and he rose from the posture of his old season. It is an error to be entering into a new season, whilst retaining the posture and disposition of the old season. It is an error to be poised for the new whilst holding on to the limiting mindsets, attitudes, sins, bitterness, hate, pride, depression, etc. that came with your old season. The new may not come if the old is not disconnected.

Jesus called Bartimaeus, and as he put away his old garment, he rose from his begging posture. Rise from every posture of the old and you will freely embrace the new.

Ephesians 5: 14 says: “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”

Declare With Me: I rise from every negative posture of the past, in Jesus’ name!
