ARISE AND EAT

“5. And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. 8. And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.” (1 Kings 19: 5, 😎

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Elijah got into the wilderness, an Angel of the Lord came to him and told him to arise and eat. Elijah felt like giving up; he had even asked God to take his life away, all because of Jezebel. He had written off himself as being unworthy of his destiny mandate, but when he got to the wilderness, down and out, the angel of the Lord came and fed him. He was fed by heaven before he could continue his journey to the mount of God.

Friend, whenever it seems that you are too tired to continue, just maybe you need to be fed by heaven. When you no longer have energy to keep moving in your destiny journey, sit back and present yourself to be fed in the secret place. When it seems you have lost steam and you are unable to push forward as you used to, sit back to be fed by fresh revelations of God’s word; sit back to be fed in fellowship with the Spirit of God. Ask to be fed.

The angel told Elijah to arise and eat; and even after he ate the first time, the same angel commanded him to eat again, because the journey ahead was far. There are times when you must be intentional to ‘eat’ more than others, because your own journey is far. There are times when you must deliberately choose to dwell more in prayers and the word, because of the peculiarity and longevity of your journey.

When Elijah finally ate a second time, he went in the strength of what he ate for forty days, until he arrived at the mount of God. So, he could not journey to the mount of God until he was repeatedly fed by heaven. You may never journey to the mount of God, and you may never journey to high places until heaven sufficiently feeds you on all sides. Let God feed you with inspiration, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, might, counsel, etc.

Do you intend to arrive at the mount of God? Then be intentional to be fed with bread from heaven. Be fed by the word. Be fed by fellowship with the Spirit of God.

1 Peter 2: 2 says: “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”

Declare With Me: As I am fed by God, I will journey to the Mount of God, and to high places, in Jesus’ name!
