NOT BY LABOUR

“22. Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart. 23. Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the LORD hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.” (1 Samuel 30: 22-23)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, some of David’s men protested against sharing their spoils with those who were too weak to continue the battle. They labored, and they were not willing to share the spoils with those who didn’t labour as much. In the end, David ruled that those who did not labour would still partake of the harvest they had just reaped. The men were weak, but didn’t lose out; they were weak but enjoyed the harvest of the strong.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you may be weak, but you will not lose your harvest; you may be weak, but you will not lose your portion; you may not be as strong as others, but you will have all that you are meant to have; you may be weak, you may not be all that other people are, but God will cause you to achieve all that others achieved; you may not have been the best, but mercy will deliver your portion to you.

The men who were weak stopped at Brook Besor, they were too weak to continue; they did not show as much courage as they should have shown; they literally sabotaged the mission with their weakness, but in the end, they still got their portion; their mistake did not stop them from getting their portion. Hear me as I hear the Lord: by the mercies of God, even your errors will not stop your portion from coming your way.

People argued that those men should not get a portion, given that they showed weakness, but they still got a portion; people spoke against them, people were against them, but David arose on their behalf, and he was enough to protect their portion. As surely as the Lord lives, even if men have come against you, or are speaking against you, God will raise men who will speak for your portion to come to you. Receive help to have your lot.

Welcome to that season where you will enjoy the results of other men’s labour. Welcome to that season where your portion will not be lost because of your error.

John 4: 38 says: “I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.”

Declare With Me: Others have laboured, and I enter into their harvest; my errors won’t swallow my portion, in Jesus’ name!
